With WebToffee’s Customizer for WooCommerce PDF Invoices add-on, store owners can easily customize their WooCommerce invoices and other document types. Adding order meta to documents helps include additional order-specific details that may not be included by default. Store owners can easily add metadata such as order meta, product meta, and product attributes into invoices and other document types using the customizer. In this article, we’ll focus on adding order meta to invoices. Here are the brief steps for adding a new order meta to invoices:
- Head to the Invoice Customize tab.
- Add a new order meta.
- Place the order meta in the invoice template.
- Save the settings.

Adding order meta to invoices using customizer
Below are the detailed steps for the same:
Step 1: Head to the invoice customize tab
- Navigate to Invoice/Packing > Invoice > Customize from the WordPress dashboard.
Note: Skip the following step (Step 2) if you have already added an order meta or you wish to use an existing order meta field.
Step 2: Add a new order meta field
- Click on the Assets tab in the Editor pane.
- From the Order fields dropdown, select Add new.
- Enter a label and the corresponding meta key for the order meta.
- Click on Save.
Step 3: Place the order meta in the invoice template
- Drag and drop the newly added order meta field to your preferred position. Similarly, you can add existing order meta fields.
Step 4: Save the settings
- Click Save Template to apply the changes to the active template.

Adding order meta to the summary table of invoices
Here is a breakdown of the steps:
- Navigate to Invoice/Packing > Invoice > Customize from the WordPress dashboard.
- Click on the summary table of the active invoice template. The editor pane on the right side will list all the elements in the summary table.
- Click on the ‘+’ icon present at the top right corner of the editor pane. A dialog box titled Add new row will pop up.
- From the Field type dropdown, select Order meta.
- Enter the corresponding Order meta key and a suitable label for the new order meta field.
- Click Save to add the new order meta to the active invoice template.
- Finally, click Save Template to apply the changes to the active template.
