Steps to change the Invoice layout using WooCommerce PDF invoice/Packing slips plugin (Basic Version)
So, Let’s start!
Step 1: Install the plugin
First, Install and Activate the WooCommerce PDF Invoices/Packing Slips Plugin from the WordPress Plugin Directory.
From WordPress Dashboard, Plugins > Add New. Once activated, follow these instructions to change the invoice layout.
You can change the invoice layouts in both the basic and pro versions of this plugin.
From the dashboard, select Invoice/packing > Invoice Settings from the Documents tab
As the Invoice setting page opens, as shown below, you can configure the basic settings in the General tab
You can update the invoices after making the changes by clicking the Update Settings button.
Moving to the customize tab, where you can view the visual representation of your invoice, also can change to your preferred layout as required for your business.
Here, you add/remove the fields you wanted to see in your invoice.
Click on the Create new template option, to change the layout of your invoices.
You can choose any of these 3 layouts available. Before switching to new layouts make sure to save the previous layout with a preferred name where it’s possible to switch back to the old invoice.
Step 4: Save the Invoice layout
Once you made the changes in the invoice layout, click on the Save button above the invoice page.
When you click on the Save button, a pop-up to name the template will appear. Type the name of the template and Save it.
Below you will see the changes to the template name.
If you want to activate your new template, click on the hamburger menu near the cancel button and then select Activate.
After activating the template, it will be your primary invoice. The below image shows the template is active.
If you want to change the template, click on the same hamburger menu, and select the My Templates, where you see all your saved templates.
Also, you can re-edit, save or delete the template.
When Using WooCommerce PDF Invoices, Packing Slips, Delivery Notes, and Shipping Label (Premium Version)
If you’re using the Pro version of the WooCommerce PDF Invoices, Packing Slips, Delivery Notes, and Shipping Labels plugin. Follow the instructions below to change the layout of your invoices.
Or, if you are new to the premium version of this plugin, you have to purchase, install & activate the WooCommerce PDF Invoices, Packing Slips, Delivery Notes, and Shipping Labels Pro plugin from the Add New plugin section similar to the basic version.
From WordPress Dashboard, select the menu Invoice/Packing > Invoice, as similar as in the basic version. Here you can configure the General setting of the premium version of the Invoice plugin, as shown in the below image.
Apart from the basic version, here you need to drag and drop the order fields from the Assets tab to customize the invoice.
Step 3: Changing the invoice layout
As we mentioned in the basic version, click on the Create new template option, and a pop-up of templates will appear.
Here, in the premium version, 4 layouts are available: Classic, Modern, Standard, and Blank template.
According to your preference, can choose any template or can choose a blank template and then create your personalized invoice to stand out from the crowd.
After the necessary changes, Save the template to avoid repeating the process.
In the premium version, you can either Save or directly Save and activate the template. Also, you view the invoice as a PDF preview by Generate PDF preview option.
