Introduction
The right of withdrawal under EU consumer protection law applies specifically to customers within the European Union. If your store serves customers outside the EU as well, showing the withdrawal button to everyone can create confusion non-EU customers may attempt to use a right that doesn’t apply to them. Customers outside the EU could see and potentially submit withdrawal requests that don’t align with your actual legal obligations to them.
Geo-Targeting (PRO) solves this by automatically detecting a visitor’s location and showing the withdrawal button only to those in EU countries, while hiding it everywhere else.
How It Works
The EU withdrawal button for WooCommerce plugin determines a visitor’s country using:
- Billing address for logged-in customers.
- WooCommerce geolocation for guest visitors.
Based on this, it decides whether the withdrawal button and links should be shown or hidden.
Setup Steps
Step 1: Open Rules & Exclusions Go to WooCommerce → Withdrawals → Settings → Rules & Exclusions.
Step 2: Enable Geo-Targeting Toggle on Geo-Targeting at the top of the section. This activates location-based visibility control.

Step 3: Choose What to Hide for Non-EU Visitors Three independent toggles let you control exactly where the button is suppressed:
- Hide footer withdrawal link — hides the withdrawal link/button in the site footer.
- Hide withdrawal button shortcode — hides the
[wt_eu_order_withdrawal]shortcode button wherever it’s placed. - Hide My Account withdrawal button — hides the withdrawal action button on My Account order pages.
Enable each toggle relevant to where you’ve placed the withdrawal button on your site.
