Efficiently Migrate Shopify Orders: Step-by-Step

Whether rebranding, expanding, or consolidating your account, transferring your order data from one store to another is crucial for ensuring a seamless customer experience and operational continuity. However, this can be a tedious task. This article explains how to efficiently migrate all your Shopify orders step by step from one store to another with StoreRobo Import Export Suite.

Step1: Export order data from the old store

The 1st step is to export all your order-related data from the store you plan to migrate from. To begin with:

  1. Install the StoreRobo Import Export Suite on your store.
  2. Open the application.
  3. Under Export, select Shopify CSV and click on Proceed.

  1. From the next tab, under Select data, choose Orders.
  2. Expand the orders option to select specific columns for export and filter the data based on various characteristics such as created date, updated date, order status, and more. The below configuration exports only the orders created after 13th June 2024 and the Metafilds and risks data associated with the orders won’t be exported. If you are planning to export the entire store orders and related columns, select all columns and set no filters.

  1. If you want to store the exported data in an FTP/SFTP server Export file to FTP/SFTP.(if not selected the exported data can be downloaded as a CSV file).
  2. Optionally choose a separator for your CSV file data. To know more about delimiters, refer to, Uncovering Delimiters: Crucial Data Organization Techniques
  3. Finally, click on export.

  • Upon successful export, you will have the option to download a CSV file to your local device. If you opted for an FTP/SFTP profile, the CSV file will additionally be stored in the designated location.

Step2: Import order data to the new store

Once you have the exported CSV file, head to your new store:

  1. Install the StoreRobo Import Export Suite on your store.
  2. Open the application.
  3. Under Import, upload the order CSV file you downloaded during Export.

  1. If the CSV file was saved on the FTP server, navigate to Import file from and choose FTP/SFTP server. Ensure to select the identical profile and location utilized for the export.

  1. Choose the same separator used while exporting.
  2. You can use the Show preview of the file option to preview the file and ensure that the data is intact.
  3. under Select data type, select Orders, and click on Upload.

  1. To update if orders already exist in the store, enable the checkbox under Options.

  • Wait till the status changes to complete. It may take a while based on the number of orders imported.

Upon successfully importing the orders, you will receive an email notification, and that all the orders have been successfully transferred to your new store.
