Importing products into your Shopify store can become time-consuming, mainly when the data include custom meta-fields. Importing these data seamlessly can be challenging without the right tools. StoreRobo Import Export Suite simplifies this process, allowing you to efficiently import your product data and ensure everything is correctly set up from the start. This guide explains how you can import products with meta fields into Shopify using StoreRobo, making your e-commerce management smoother and more effective.
Step 1: Create a meta-field definition
- From your Shopify admin, go to Settings > Custom data.
- In the Metafields section, click Product metafields.
- Click Add definition.
- Name your meta-field definition and select a data type.
- Click Save.
Step 2: Prepare Your CSV File
Create a CSV file with all the data to be imported. The sample file can be downloaded from the link given below.
>> Download sample CSV- Create a CSV file with columns for your product details, such as Title, Description, Price, etc.
- Add columns for meta fields, naming them in the format:
Meta namespace.key(data_type)
. For example,Meta custom.produt_color (single_line_text_field)
.
Step 2: Import meta-field data
Once you have prepared the CSV file.
- Open StoreRobo Import Export Suite.
- In StoreRobo, go to the Import section.
- Upload the CSV file and Select the data type as Products.
- Click on Upload.
Step 3: Map metafields
In the upcoming step, adjust the import process as required. You can ignore product IDs, update existing products on the store, skip importing new products, or publish newly added products.
Once selections are made as required, click on Import.
Wait for the import, you will be notified by mail once the process is completed.
Once imported, the product with the custom meta will be added to the store. If you have chosen to update the product, the selected product will be updated with the new metadata.
