Update Shopify Orders Easily with CSV Import

Last updated on October 3, 2024

You may need to update orders after creating or fulfilling them to correct errors, update the order status, add or modify details, or apply discounts or adjustments. However, manually doing this is tedious. With the StoreRobo Import Export Suite, you can use a CSV file to update your Shopify orders smoothly. This process can greatly enhance the accuracy and efficiency of your order management process.

Step 1: Set up order CSV

Download the given demo CSV file and change the order details as required.

To update an existing order details:

Method 1:

  • Filter and export the orders that need to be updated.
  • Open the exported file in a spreadsheet editor.
  • Locate the order by ID or Name. The app uses ID to find and update the order during import. If it can’t find the ID, it uses the Name instead.
  • Update the necessary columns with the new data and leave the remaining columns unchanged.

Method 2:

  • Create a new CSV file with the necessary columns, including ID, Name, and any other order-related fields you want to update.
  • The app will use the ID to locate and update the order. If the ID is missing, the Name will be used. Ensure at least one of these fields is present in the CSV.
  • Only add columns that you want to update.
  • Enter the ID, Name, and any other updated information for the order in the relevant columns.

Examples

Good to know

The ID or Name column is essential for identifying the order from the store.

Shopify’s limitations:

  • You cannot import product exchange details within an order.
  • Product return details within an order cannot be imported.
  • Discounts can be manually applied to each product on the order edit page, but importing discounts will apply to the order total rather than specific products.
  • Discount codes will be consolidated during import, generating a manual discount without a code, as Shopify does not support importing multiple coupons.
  • Shipping details will remain unchanged and will only be available for creation.

Step 2: Upload the order CSV

To upload and update the orders:

  1. Install the StoreRobo Import Export Suite on your store.
  2. Open the application.
