Switching to Classic Checkout in WooCommerce

Last updated on August 30, 2024

Using WebToffee’s WooCommerce Stripe Payment Gateway and PayPal Express Checkout Payment Gateway plugin, store owners can effortlessly integrate payment gateways like Stripe and PayPal into their WooCommerce store. If you have block checkout enabled for your WooCommerce store, you may have encountered situations where payment methods like Stripe and PayPal do not appear on the checkout page. This issue can be resolved by switching to the classic checkout.

Switching to the classic checkout

Here are the brief steps:

  1. Create a new page titled classic checkout
  2. Set classic checkout as the default checkout page

Step 1 – Creating a new page titled Classic checkout

Creating a new page will not affect the existing block checkout page. Alternatively, you can modify the existing block checkout page by replacing it with the classic checkout. Below are the steps to create a new page for classic checkout:

  1. From the WordPress dashboard, navigate to Pages > Add New Page.
  2. Enter a title for the page, such as “Classic Checkout.”
  3. Click on the “+” icon in the block editor or use the “Toggle block inserter” to add a new block to the page.

Alternative method

Instead of creating a new page for classic checkout, store owners can replace the existing checkout with the classic checkout. Here are the steps:

  1. From the WordPress dashboard, navigate to Pages > All Pages.
  2. Click on the Checkout page from the list of pages to edit it.
  3. Now, replace the existing block checkout with the Classic Checkout.
  4. Finally, click on Update to save changes.

The existing block checkout will be replaced with the classic checkout page.

When the above steps are completed, the classic checkout page will be the default checkout page, and customers will be redirected there to complete their orders. Customers can utilize payment gateways like Stripe and PayPal on the classic checkout page to complete their orders.
