Bestseller recommendations offer curated suggestions for top-performing products or services in a specific category, considering factors like sales, customer reviews, and trends. They aid consumers in making informed decisions by showcasing widely regarded and in-demand items across various markets. This article details setting up bestseller recommendations for a Shopify store using SF Product Recommendations by WebToffee.
- Install SF Product Recommendations on your store.
- From the admin panel, head to Apps > SF Product Recommendations.
- Click on Create new recommendation.
- Under Select a page, select a page to display bestsellers.
Note: You can display bestseller recommendations universally on all available pages.
- After selecting a page, click on the Bestseller template under Select recommendation type. This opens up a configuration page with a wide range of options to optimize the recommendation based on your requirements.
Customize recommendation
Selecting the template will provide you with various options to customize the recommendation.
Step 1: Select products to recommend
Bestseller recommendations highlight the top-selling products in your store. You can personalize the category of bestseller products presented to customers from the Recommend products from section, depending on the page they are viewing.
If there isn’t enough sales data available, bestseller recommendations will display random products from the store.
Product page
The product page displays the best-selling products based on the product the customer is currently viewing(Product on screen). You can choose to display products from any of the categories below.
- Bestseller products from the same collection as the currently viewing product (Default).
- Bestseller products with the same tag as the currently viewing products.
- Bestseller products from the same vendor as the currently viewing products.
- Bestseller products from the same category as the currently viewing products.
- Store-wide best-selling products. (Suitable for stores with fewer orders and products. Instead of displaying products based on the currently viewed products, display the storewide best-selling products.)
Shop page
By default, the shop page will showcase the store’s top-selling products. However, if you require customization, you have the flexibility to display products according to any of the options listed below:
- Store-wide bestsellers (Default).
- Bestseller products from selected collections.
- Bestseller products with selected types.
- Bestseller products from selected vendors.
- Bestseller products from selected categories.
Collection page
By default, the collection page will showcase the current viewing collection’s best-selling products. However, if you require customization, you have the flexibility to display products according to any of the options listed below:
- Display best-selling products from the same collection as the customer is viewing. (Default).
- Display store-wide best-selling products. (Suitable for stores with fewer orders and products. Instead of displaying products based on the currently viewed collection, display the storewide best-selling products.).
Cart page
The cart page displays best-selling products based on the last added cart product. You can choose any display products from any of the below categories.
- Bestseller products from the same collection as the last added cart product(Default).
- Bestseller products with the same tag as the last added cart product.
- Bestseller products from the same vendor as the last added cart product.
- Bestseller products from the same category as the last added cart product.
- Store-wide best-selling products. (Suitable for stores with fewer orders and products. Instead of displaying products based on the last added cart product, display the storewide best-selling products).
404 page
The page will display the highest-selling products from the whole store. No customizations are available.
Step 2 : Set up widget title
This text will display as the title of the product recommendation widget in the e-store.
Step 3 : Set up display rules
When you set a display rule, a certain recommendation appears on the selected page only if the configured display rule aligns with the page, date, or user. For example, you can configure a recommendation to display only for certain user roles, specific days, or selected products.
The available filters under the Display rules will vary depending on your page selection. Each page has a different set of display rules tailored just for them.

Step 4: Set up visual preferences
Click on Customize to customize the appearance of the recommendation widget at the store’s front end. The Visual preference window will provide a wide range of customization options and a live preview of how the widget will appear on the store. Step 5: Generate the widget
After the configurations, clicking the Create new recommendation generates the new widget.
App adds Recommendations to the store automatically, if you enable the App embed option for SF Product recommendations. Otherwise, you have to install the widget manually in your store.
