Set Up an Effective Black Friday & Cyber Monday Popup

As a WooCommerce store, it is essential to attract the right customers at the right time. With the biggest sale weekend of the year approaching, stores are eager to set up pop-ups that attract the right users and maximize sales. In this article, we’ll discuss how to set up an effective Black Friday or Cyber Monday pop-up for your store using the WebToffee eCommerce Marketing Automation app.

Below are a few sample Black Friday and Cyber Monday pop-ups/forms built using the app.

Step 1: Choose a Seasonal Template

  • Go to Forms & Widgets > Popup & embed forms.
  • Click Create new campaign.
  • Open Holiday and Sales events.
  • Select any Black Friday or Cyber Monday template.

These templates already include seasonal styling and a predefined layout suitable for Black Friday and Cyber Monday offers.

Step 2: Configure Popup Settings (Recommended Offer Settings)

Configure your pop-up using the following values for the best performance:

1. Trigger

  • Select After a delay and set the delay to 3 seconds. This ensures the pop-up appears early in the session without interrupting page load.

2. Display frequency

  • Select Once per day to prevent overexposure during heavy traffic and keep the pop-up effective.

Step 3: Targeting Settings and Visibility

1. Audience

  • Select All visitors to maximize reach and sales.

2. UTM parameters (Optional)

  • Use UTM parameters to show the pop-up to traffic from specific marketing campaigns (such as email campaigns, paid ads, etc).
  • Select a parameter, such as Campaign, then enter the value used in your URL (for example: bfcm, black_friday, or cyber_monday).
    The pop-up will appear only when the visitor’s URL contains that matching UTM parameter.
  • Skip this step if you want to keep the pop-up universal.

3. Page URLs

For best performance,

  • Include your homepage, shop, product categories, and product pages.
  • Exclude checkout, cart, and thank-you pages.

4. Product Category (Optional)

If the offer applies to specific categories, add those categories under:

  • Include categories.
  • Skip this step if the promotion is sitewide.

5. Device Visibility

  • Set device visibility to All devices.

Step 4: Edit the Popup Template

  • Click Edit template to open the pop-up editor and configure the following:
    • Update headline: Use “Black Friday Sale – Get X% Off” or “Cyber Monday Deal – Limited Time Only”
    • Update the CTA button: Use “Grab the Deal” or “Reveal Code”
    • Add:
      • Countdown timer to create urgency (optional)
      • High-contrast BFCM colors (dark backgrounds, neon accents)
  • Click the Success page and configure the following:
    • Update the success message: Add a suitable success message on the rewards screen. Use “Your Black Friday deal is unlocked!” or “Done! You can now use your BFCM savings.”
    • Configure coupon settings: Click on the coupon block and attach a relevant coupon as a reward. Use relevant codes like “BLACKFRIDAY20” orBLACKFRIDAYSALE.”

Step 5: Save and Publish the Popup

  • Click Finish Editing.
  • Name the pop-up and click Publish.

The pop-up will now be live in your store and will appear to visitors based on the configured settings.
