How to Export WordPress Users and User Data in a CSV File

Exporting WordPress users is important in scenarios when you need to merge two sites together and want to keep the user base, or you are migrating the entire website to some other website or platform. In a website where you have a lot of users, like a membership website, each user has a lot of information linked to it. And the easiest way to export all these data is by using the right plugin.

Export Users in WordPress

To export users in WordPress, the first thing you need to do is to purchase, install, and activate WordPress Users & WooCommerce Customers Import Export Plugin on your WordPress website.

After you have installed and activated the plugin on your website, go to WooCommerce > Customer Import Export. This will take you the plugins page. Under the User/Customer Export tab, configure the settings of the plugin before exporting.

Each of the fields in the export page is explained below:

User Roles: This field allows you to filter the users that are exported according to their user roles. Select user roles for which you want to export details from the given list:User roles

The fields Offset and Limit allow you to export a partial list of users into the CSV file. The value of the Offset field determines the number of users that will be skipped before exporting. And the value in the Limit field determines the number of users that will be exported beginning from the offset value.

The From Date and the To Date fields allow you to filter the users based on the dates they were registered. The Start Date field allows you to enter a date of registration from which you want to export the users by clicking on the calendar icon. The End Date allows you to enter the date of registration till which you want to export the users.

The above are the options that allow you to export only the data that are required to be exported to the CSV file. After the required filters have been applied, proceed to the next step. The screen looks as shown below:

Select a mapping file for export: From here, you can select an existing mapping file for export. This option is enabled only when you create your first mapping file.

Columns: Select the checkbox for required columns if you want to export specific columns. With the Column Name field, you can modify the column header in the CSV file. To do that, simply enter the required column name for the specific column.

Save the export mapping: In this field, enter a mapping filename for exporting.

Delimiter: This field allows you to specify the delimiter that will be used in the CSV file to the separate the field values. With this field, you can change the comma separated file to ‘|’ or ‘.” separated file according to your requirement. By default, the comma is used as the delimiter in the CSV.

Export Guest Users: Check this option to include the guest users of the website to the exported CSV file.

Click Export Users, the CSV file gets auto-downloaded to your computer. The sample users CSV file is as shown below:Exported user CSV

Export User(s) from Users Page

Not only from the plugin page, but you can also export the users from the Users page. This allows you to directly export all the fields of the required users in bulk into a CSV file.

To do that, navigate to Dashboard > WooCommerce > Users. The Users page appears as shown below:

  • To export Users, select the users that you need. From Bulk Action drop-down list, select Download as CSV and click Apply. All the information about selected User(s) gets auto-downloaded to CSV file on your computer.
